Measuring EFL Learners’ Ability in Writing Correlation between Linguistic Language Variables and Writing Proficiency

This study was administered to examine the correlation between linguistic language variables and writing proficiency among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners in grades 1-4 and grade 8. 100 students were participating, whose writing proficiency was evaluated based on five aspects: content, fluency, sentence formation, usage, and mechanics. Meanwhile, students' linguistic skill was measured using five indicators: cognitive, composition, vocabulary, style, and sociocultural. The relationship between linguistic language skills and writing ability was examined using a developmental scale model, and which results indicated a positive correlation in all grades. The findings of this study add to the body of knowledge regarding the relationship between linguistic language skills and writing ability and its implications.

A Study of Speech Style in The “Raya And The Last Dragon” Movie By Carlos Lopez Estrada And Don Hall

This study discussed about of Speech style in the movie “Raya and the Last Dragon” By Carlos Lopez Estrada and Don Hall. It finds out the types of speech styles used in the movie. Meanwhile, the data were analyzed using Descriptive Qualitative analysis namely the translation of the analysis using the study of speech style theory. The data analysis showed that there were many types of speech style in the movie, namely frozen style, formal style, consultative style, casual style, and intimate style. Moreover, it can be concluded that in this movie is more dominant using casual style which occurs 22 times (36,65%), the second rank is the intimate style occurs 15 times (24,59%). The next is consultative style occurs 14 times (22,96%), formal style occurs 7 times (11,47%), and the last type is frozen style only 3 times (4,92%).

The Attraction of the Kampung Inggris for Students as Target Areas Improves English Speaking Skills

Proficiency in speaking is considered the most crucial among the four language skills, demanding the full attention and concentration of students. This study aims to assess the perceptions of EFL undergraduate students at Universitas Syiah Kuala regarding the impact of English Camp on their speaking skills. Employing qualitative research methods, the research involved seven undergraduate students selected through purposive sampling. Interviews were utilized to gather data from participants who had attended Kampung Inggris Pare, an English Camp Program. The findings indicate that Kampung Inggris Pare contributes significantly to the enhancement of students' speaking skills. Notable improvements were observed in vocabulary mastery, pronunciation, speech fluency, grammar proficiency, and overall comprehension abilities, leading to increased self-confidence. These elements collaboratively play a role in assisting students in overcoming challenges they encounter during verbal communication. The research underscores the pivotal role of English camps in elevating speaking skills, encompassing the introduction of new vocabulary, enhanced pronunciation, increased fluency, heightened self-confidence, improved comprehension, and refined grammar. Consequently, these advancements reflect positively on students' academic performance and their communicative abilities in daily life.

Students' Perception of Utilizing Instagram as a Learning Aid in Their Speaking English

This study explores students' perceptions of using Instagram as a learning aid to improve their English speaking skills. Through interviews with students, it was found that Instagram, alongside other social media platforms like YouTube and TikTok, plays a significant role in enhancing speaking proficiency. Students value Instagram for its interactive features, such as stories, live sessions, and language exchange groups, which provide opportunities for direct engagement with native speakers and exposure to diverse speaking styles. Additionally, students appreciate the convenience and accessibility of Instagram, allowing them to practice speaking skills at their own pace. Overall, students perceive Instagram as a valuable tool for language learning, citing its interactive nature, diverse content offerings, and convenience as key factors contributing to their positive learning experiences

Linoit: An Effective Tool for Teaching English

Linoit will be an alternative whiteboard when the teacher feels the situation gets boring in the classroom. The research design of this research is the pre-experimental class with one group pretest and posttest design with a questionnaire in the last. The researcher used a simple random sampling technique with the Sixth grade consisting of 32 students of SD Muhammadiyah 3 Parepare academic year 2023/2024 as a sample of this research. The mean score of the students in the pretest was 61,56 and in the posttest was 84,69. The students' scores after giving treatment were higher than before giving treatment. Besides that, in applying the t-test of the students' posttest, it was found that the t-test was greater than the t-table value. The data analysis showed that Linoit as a media learner had a positive impact on the students.
