Abstract

Friday sermon (khutbah Jum’at) is a strategic medium of Islamic preaching that not only serves as a religious message but can also be used as a learning laboratory for Islamic Education (PAI) lecturers. Through sermons, lecturers can develop rhetorical skills, integrate da’wah theory with practice, and build socio-religious sensitivity within society. This community service program aimed to enhance lecturers’ capacity in utilizing khutbah as an applicative and reflective learning medium. The methods included sermon technique workshops, sermon practice in partner mosques, and qualitative evaluation with congregations. The results showed improvement in lecturers’ religious communication skills, self-confidence, and collaboration with mosque communities. Therefore, Friday sermon can serve as an effective da’wah laboratory as well as a contextual PAI learning medium.
